A Life Dedicated to Service
Born in Caibarién, Cuba, on March 12, 1955, Joe arrived alone in the United States in 1961, reuniting with his parents months later. His journey from a young immigrant to a leader began with resilience, determination, and a deep commitment to service.
He became a pioneer in law enforcement after graduating from Miami Dade College and the County Police Academy, making history as the youngest law enforcement officer in Florida. Building on that foundation, he earned two degrees from Florida International University (FIU) in Criminal Justice (Administration) and International Relations (Psychology). At just 24 years old, he achieved another milestone by becoming the youngest elected Commissioner in Miami’s history.

Joe Carollo’s trajectory is unparalleled, with leadership that has reached the highest levels of both local and international administration. As Mayor of Miami, he successfully served two terms during a pivotal period of growth and transformation for the city, guiding its development and strengthening its foundation for the future.
Beyond Miami, his influence extended across the hemisphere when he was elected by his peers to preside over the Conference of Mayors of Major Cities, demonstrating leadership that reached far beyond local borders. He also brought his expertise to sports and public administration, serving six terms as head of the Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority and later as City Manager of Doral, where he further proved his ability to manage complex institutions and deliver results.

His achievements also include building new parks and restoring plazas and monuments that beautify the city and strengthen community pride among Miami residents.
Beyond Politics: Entrepreneur & Family Man
In addition to government service, Joe Carollo has been a businessman and experienced consultant locally, nationally, and internationally. On the personal side, Joe is happily married to Marjorie Carollo, a respected media producer and publicist, and a vital pillar in his life and political return. He is the proud father of four children and grandfather of eight grandchildren, to whom he instills the values and principles that have guided his own life.
